(No, this is not our car!!)

My husband’s car died. Although I was hoping it could be fixed, that doesn’t happen because the motor is broken. Once it is an old car (more than twenty years old) it is not worth to spend money on it.

Fortunately my father in law has another old car (eighteen years) but that is in medium conditions. He doesn’t need that car, in fact we are using it while my car is being repaired, so he is giving us that car. Although I was concern that soon we would have to replace our old car, deep down I knew my father in law’s old car was for us. One day he told my husband that he was keeping that car for us.

It would be impossible for us to buy a new or used car in a near future and my in laws know that so this is a way to show us their support. Of course they have one more daughter and son but they also help them in other ways. The car is considered old and its value is low but for me what is important is that it has the minimum conditions to be on the streets and drive us to work. It was approved by inspection so we have a car for a few more years.

This summer we are going to use my car to drive to the beach and other locations. My car will be ready from repair this week and it will be in excellent conditions to drive us during the holidays. For sure we won’t have money to go abroad so I’ll be saving some money on a travel insurance. Instead of cancel my husband’s auto insurance, I’m going to transfer it to this car my father in law is offering us, so no new insurances needed this year.

So, we are very lucky to have two cars repaired and in good conditions for a few more years. Having different schedules, working in two different areas and two kids to take to and from school/daycare two cars are really needed.
