CyberPatrol – Parental Controls

CyberPatrol is a software that motorizes our kids online activities. Mine was installed three weeks ago and so far it’s working perfectly. The software is very complete but very easy to use. The features are:

Headquarters Toolbar:
This is a all in one toolbar. Here I can control the settings, check the status

Flexible content filtering option:
I love CyberPatrol filtering because I have available four age stages to choose from: child, young teen, mature teen and adult. These stages come fully optimized for the correspondent ages but they can be customized.  We can insert a list of sites or words we approve.  his is great for those having kids of different age stages and adults can have their own profile and access what they want.

Limit Access to programs:
Program downloading risks were taught to my son but he still installs games without telling me and I already got a virus due to that. The CyberPatrol is a good software to prevent kids from downloading the wrong programs.

Restrict chat and instant messaging:
With this feature we can block some phrases and words used by online predators. Of course it’s not easy to remember all the dirty and nasty that might be said to a child but at least we can protect them from the common ones.

Monitor Internet activity:
I love this feature. With it you can control all the activities all users have been having on the Internet. We can check very detailed reports on the pages that where visited, in which day, at what time and for how long. If we verify that the kids visited one or more pages that are not appropriate for them we can than block them.

Limit time online:
I don’t use this feature because none of my kids are alone at home (never) so I know how much time they spend on the computer and I can control it personally.

Manage user profiles:
Having two kids, 5 years apart, and adults at home it’s important to be able to have different users for each age stage. Each user can have its own settings, filtering and password. We can change from one user to another very easily allowing us to control who is on the computer.

There are available some extended features like:

  • Change password
  • Personalized reports with the filtering we want.
  • Event viewer – Here we can view events like failed password attempts or product updates.

CyberPatrol is a very complete software that enables every family to manage what their kids visit online, what kind of conversations they have with their friends or unknown people. I’m very happy to have it on my desktop and I completely trust it to keep my kids away from dirty and nasty sites. Of course we shouldn’t only reply on the software. It is also important to keep an eye on our kids, ask them what they do online and keep telling them about the dangers of Internet.

My blog was selected to review the CyberPatrol software thanks to FuelMyFlog.
