Gold Rings

From time to time I am surprised with some interesting questions from my daughter. This week she asked why do I wear two marriage rings and my husband none.
Well, first of all one of the gold rings I wear is on the right end and it is what we call a dating ring. The diamond engagement rings thing is not a very usual ritual among middle society so usually when we begin a serious relationship we offer/receive a basic gold ring.
My husband’s dating ring was destroyed in an accident he had even before we got married and we never bought a new one. Mine was always used on my left hand.
When we got married we got our wedding rings that we use on our left hand. My husband’s ring broke a few years ago due to his job and was never replaced. A few weeks ago my hands started swelling a little and I had to remove the dating ring, so now I only use the wedding ring.
So these are the reasons I used two ring, now only one and my husband none.
I didn’t know about dating rings. We wear both engagement and wedding rings on our left hand in the US.
