Last Tuesday it was my father’s 80th birthday. I think that 80 years old is a beautiful age that should be lived in a good way, not the case of my father. Having a degenerative disease like Parkinson, my father is not able to enjoy the age he has.

Kids under the age of 10 are not allowed to go up to the patients rooms but, as my father was too weak to come downstairs, we talked to the nurse and we ask for a special visit of my daughter to her grandfather. The request was approved and both my kids were able to visit my father on his room.

There was no cake but a gift was given to him, a photo of the grandchildren to put on his hospital bedside.

My father disease is deteriorating. The medication was adjusted to the Parkinson (at first the doctors medicated him for Alzheimer) and although he is not seeing a butterfly and a ceiling fan on the ceiling when there is nothing there, he is losing strength and everyday it gets more difficult to understand what he says.

My mother is doing her best to keep him with good living conditions that’s why he is now in a hospital for a 3 months physical treatment and medication adjustment. Although she believes he will be really better after the treatment, I’m skeptical because I know with this type of diseases only gets worse and improvements are scarce.
