This is a general guideline and by no means set in stone, but translators worth their salt usually charge anywhere between $0.08 to $0.16 per word. An let me tell you, I wouldn't go back to an office even if they offered me twice as much as I make today (not to mention that working from home I'm making more money than I ever made in any office I've worked before). I specially recommend that you do a lot of reading on their forums - http://www.proz.com/forum.php - LOTS of great advice there on how the market works (generally) and how to get established, etc. It helped me a lot in the beginning.
