I usually try the "quiet", diplomatic way but sometimes they just "don't hear us". I hope that soon yelling is not needed and yes, I will try harder the Talking way. I've had my years as a yelling parent - and realized how ineffective it was. So, I sat down with my kids to explain how we as a family needed to change the way we interacted. I explained I would really try to stop yelling and try to communicate better - and over the years I have improved. I still yell - but only as a last resort. So I hope yelling doesn't make me a bad parent. It's not like we have all the answers - just because we are parents doesn't mean we know how to handle all the situations we face. We strive to do the best and be the best we can be for our kids. I found communication to be the best way to deal with my temper.
