Time Management needed
I’m full time at home, jobless and now what?
I confess that I’m living the dream of my life, no full time job, I’m doing the house chores, taking and picking up my kids at school, be with them more time. This also means I have no income, at least for now so I should be worried but, I am not worry, I’m happy, I’m living my dream. Full Time Mom and Housewife.
But I want to work, I like to work but…doing the work I like, not an imposed one just to have a income at the end of the month. I want to enjoy my job. I like to be a blogger, I like to write and I want to continue doing that. If I can earn some money on that journey the better.
This last few days I’ve been increasing my online presence. I started using Facebook more (amazing), I now have fan pages for my blogs (Soleflor Mom and Have a Better Life) , I joined Linked In, I joined The Product Review Place, I’m using Hootsuite and I guess a few more, I’m losing track of everything wish leads me to a new problem: Time Management.
Having a different life style made me lose track of everything. What comes first:
- Check my inbox
- Do the laundry
- Check Hootsuite
- Make the beds
- Check you Fan me or want to add me as a friend
- Write posts
- Comment on blogs
- Read posts I like
- ???????
I’m confused and I really need to organize myself. I guess Time Management is a priority right now.
How do you keep track of your tasks, appointments, shopping, etc.? I don’t have a iphone or other advanced gadget to introduce that information. So, do you put it on paper, on Google Calendar, Post-its ??

Hi, Great blog! I totally agree that it’s far better to spend your time doing something that you love. That’s what I do too. Training, Coaching, Network Marketing and now Internet Marketing.
Best wishes,

I’m a full-time mom and love it. I’m not sure I have the busy issues you have, but am happy to share my world. Welcome!
Firstly, I have to say – make sure you enjoy the kids. I try to wrap up whatever I’m doing so when my kids come home – I’m all theirs. Of course, when they are 9 and 13 – they don’t always want me – but that’s ok! The important thing is that I’m there and we spend some time decompressing after school before they go tackle their homework, practice, music lessons or whatever is on our plate that day.
I’m a throwback – so I prefer a calendar that I carry around with me. It is a school year calendar, August – July. I color-code the calendar – one color for my son’s school/events, another color for my daughter’s school/events and a separate color for family events/appointments. My husband travels for a living, so I also pencil in whatever city my husband is visiting. I take time at the beginning of the week and peruse the upcoming week to decide which days are occupied with PTA/volunteer stuff, which days will be for household days and which days work better for groceries, errands etc (usually Thursday or Friday). I make sure I have some time to do “free stuff” every day – whether it be sit and watch tv, read a book (my fav hobby) or whatever.
I, too, don’t have a smart phone – but even if I did – I would still maintain a “hard copy” calendar cuz it’s just how I function better.
Good luck – hope you find a system that works for you. Make sure you smile along the way!

I find that multiple methods are needed for it all to come together!
I still have a calendar on the refrig that we all post to; I use a Palm Pilot for a calendar, contacts, etc. It’s nice that I can set alarms in the Palm Pilot. I have my cell, which I store contacts in. I also use Google Calendar. This is basically for my personal day-to-day appointments.
For my blog, I use Excel spreadsheets, and I also have a DayPlanner where I keep track of things with a deadline.
I also find that post-it notes stuck on the computer, my purse, my wallet, and my Palm Pilot also help me to remember things.

Thank you for your comment. I believe we always have to rely on paper and pen and not only in the computer. Right now I am going to start with a Dayplanner, I believe that if I have one it will be easier to keep everything organized.

Hi. I know how you feel and what you’re going through right now. I think, most housewives and full-time moms experience that every now and then. Like you feel that you’re doing the same routine everyday and it’s boring you out. Why not take time to bond with your family and do something that you all enjoy, like playing a game that you all love. It could help relieve the stress you’re experiencing. Also, take a time-out to just spend some time for relaxing and enjoying yourself.
