Day 283: Organizing Photos

Yesterday I decided that I really need to organize my digital  photos. Although I have some DVDs with most of the photos, the newer ones are all in the computer and I’m not talking about a few weeks, I mean three or four years. Yes, I know, I can lose everything if my hard disks fails.

I have almost all the photos in the computer since 1999, although a lot of them are already printed from the time I only had a normal camera (not digital). First thing I did was to create a folder for each year. Then all the photos that where in a folder identified by date I move them to the correspondent year folder. Now I have many, many photos just scattered on a common folder waiting for me to identify the year and put them in the right year.

There are a lot of photos I would like to print and keep in albums. I feel that a touchable photo is more beautiful, I don’t know why. I don’t have a id card printer so I have to outsource the printing. I will try to find a good service that offers good rates to print a large amount of photo.

I also have photos from way back when I was young and had no wrinkles, taken by film camera that are already damaged and I would like to fix them, specially ones I have with a little girl I consider my younger sister. She died at the age of 18 with cancer and I want to preserve her memory putting together all the photos we have from both of us. She was one year old when my mom became her nanny and I have photos of her since she was two or three years old.

I’m certain that I have to organize my photos soon, before a computer accident destroy them.
