Visit Finland and Enjoy Its Beauty

I’m not a traveler. Not because I don’t want to but due to financial issues. I’ve been to south of Spain four times in a raw before my oldest sun was born and then we never left the country again.

Although I dream, like most people, to travel to tropical countries, I understand that I have lovely countries in Europe that I can also visit and enjoy.

Finland is one of the countries I would like to visit. I’ve heard so many good news about it that I’m curious to stop by and see for myself. It seems to be a dream country.

I always think of Finland when I think about the countries I would like to visit due to the amazing Aurora Boralis that happens there. Finland is also known for its natural beauty. There are some activities that can be done while visiting such as a husky sled though the snowy landscapes or just rest in a cozy and warm log cabin.

It would be great to visit Finland and enjoy its beauty. It would also be interesting to experiment the tasty Finnish food which is quite famous. Maybe one day I will have the possibility to go there and write about by own experience while visiting the country.

Travel Toys Means Entertained Kids

Having two children of my own I perfectly understand how difficult it is to travel with children on the back seat of the car. After a small amount on the car they become tired of being there and they become very upset.

I always had some trouble to control my oldest son since he becomes seasick when he for instance tries to ready while we are on the road. But one thing is certain, I always used attractive distractions to keep them busy.

When they were younger I used to take travel toys in the car to keep them occupied. Toys could be magnetic boards, rattles, and other noisy toys. As they grew older I started taking puzzles, electronic games, books, UNO game, cards, and so on.

There are some special designers that provide us with the best toys to keep our kids happy and quiet. Melissa and Doug design and manufacture those toys, both educational and fun. They have a wide variety of toys for all ages. Toddlers might be difficult to entertain but bigger kids are not easier.

We should always buy toys that match our kid’s age. A baby might be happy and entertained with baby banz products such as sunglasses and attractive hats while a ten year old will be more interested in a video game or a DVD player with a great movie for his or her age.

Overall the most important thing is to keep the kids entertained while we are driving even if it is a short distance. When there are siblings, travel toys should be in the same number so that there are no fights to dispute a toy. Of course that can always happen , but if each kid has its own toys in the car it will be easy for them to be quiet while playing with their own toys. Cards can be used to keep the kids entertained with each other.

We’ve all been there: trapped on an airplane, with that annoying baby crying in the next aisle throughout the flight. I was even on a plane once where another “helpful” woman angrily screamed, “Have you heard of a pacifier?!” Maybe like me, now you’re on the other side of the equation, with a toddler in tow, trying to fend off pissed-off passengers with apologetic half smiles. From navigating the maze of airport security to the endless hours in the sky, here are ways to cut down on the inevitable stress of flying with your child. Just look at it this way: at least we don’t have to travel by wagon train anymore.

Before You Get to the Airport

• Make sure you have the right size containers. You’re allowed to fly with juice, formula, or breast milk for baby, but it has to be in the right size container. Only 3.4 ounce (100 ml) or smaller containers are allowed. Check the TSA website for the most recent information on airport security and what it means for your toddler.

• Keep your stroller organized: You’ll have to take everything out of your stroller, in order for it to be x-rayed. Keeping things organized will cut down on annoying time in the security line. Pack things together, and minimize the amount of clutter floating in your stroller’s compartments.

• Bring a baby seat and reserve that extra plane seat: While it might be possible to carry your child on your lap while flying, it sure isn’t comfortable. The money you can save by doing it might be appealing, but reserving an extra seat is more courteous to the fellow fliers and more likely to result in a calmer flight for your kid. And, if your child weighs more than forty pounds, you’re required by the FAA to restrain them with an airplane seatbelt.

• Bring the right entertainment: If it’s the portable DVD player your kid loves, make sure it’s in the bag. Don’t overpack, however, or you’ll be lugging a heavy bag through the airport.

In Flight

• Pack a diaper change kit: Put all the things you need to change a few diapers in one easily accessible bag. You’ll be glad you had that diaper, some wipes, and a good smelling lotion around when you need to change a diaper in flight. If you’ve got a larger kid, ask a crew member if there is a bathroom on the aircraft with a change table, as this is often the case.

• Dealing with ear popping: That uncomfortable feeling of pressure buildup in the ears can be one of the most trying things about flying with children. A pacifier is helpful, and should be put in during take-off and before your descent. Unfortunately, for kids too young to understand the instructions to swallow, crying can be the only effective way to relieve ear pressure. Let them cry it out—it’s actually helpful.

• Bring more food than you think you’ll need: Pack food and snacks as if you won’t be getting any on the plane. This is often the case these days, and even if there is food that doesn’t mean your toddler will actually eat it. When it’s time to eat, feed your kid first, then yourself. Manipulating trays of food in flight can be difficult, and you’ll be more relaxed while eating if your child has already.

• Be prepared for motion sickness: If it’s your child’s first flight or you know they are prone to motion sickness, be prepared. Put a Ziploc bag in your purse or in front of your seat, if you fear they might puke. And of course, keep lots of wet wipes around for clean up. Don’t let them eat too much before the flight, and consider putting a disposable bib on any child that may get sick. Even a little puke smells really bad, when stuck in a tiny airplane.

Family holidays can be a great joy, but they can also be hard work too. Parenting teenagers or children of any age can be a challenge, but factor in holiday excitement and the stress of packing and you could end up with quite a bit of bother around the home. Trips require a lot of planning, especially when you have got to think from your other family members’ perspectives too. Thinking of the whole picture can sometimes help to iron out the kinks that can crop up along the way.

Choosing your destination

You may have chosen to visit the same hotel at the same resort for years in a row, but consider the ages of your children. Are they still young enough to enjoy the kids clubs, or do they think that they are designed for “babies”? Some hotels will only accept guests of a certain age, especially those attractive to adults staying without children, so it might be a good idea to consider this at the time of booking too.

Packing the bags

We all know that some teenagers don’t get out of bed until gone three in the afternoon, but getting them to help with the packing might save any arguments about why you didn’t pack their favourite pair of shoes. If there is plenty of laundry to do, why not try to get everyone to chip in with their own job? For example, an older child can sort the laundry into colours, while a younger child can make sure there are no tissues in any pockets!

Make the journey fun

Even adults can get bored on long journeys! As a child it can seem like a journey is taking forever, and as a teenager it can appear no better. Bringing along activities can be essential if you want to keep them entertained along the way, although it could be best to keep in mind the loudness of these games so you don’t irritate the other passengers. Comfortable clothing and blankets are great to keep the little (and not so little) ones happy.

On holiday

Stresses can crop up in all sorts of ways, but many holiday troubles can involve money, boredom, and tiredness. If you are going on a long-haul holiday, giving your kids time to get over their jet lag can make for a happier atmosphere, even if they think they are raring to go. If you have kids of different ages, it might be constructive to let them take turns to pick activities in order to keep tension to a minimum.

Visit to the Oceanario de Lisboa

Last week we went to Lisbon

First we eat on the Vasco da Gama and then we visited the Oceanario de Lisboa. We had been there with my son 7 years ago and we wanted to show him and my daughter the beauties there are in the ocean.

We had this visit scheduled since last year. Although we didn’t have a certain date, as last year we went to the Zoo, this here we established that we would go to the Oceanario.

My daughter was afraid of getting near the glass where the big tank is with all type of fish including sharks, but after a few long minutes she got used to the idea that the fishes couldn’t get her and she just wanted to call the fishes to come near the glass.

For my son was the discovery of thousands species of marine life and the details of certain species.

We had a good time and on our way back home we had two happy kids sleeping on the back seat.

My camping experience – we had a wonderful time

My vacation is over!

I’m glad we went to the Camping Park, we had a great time away from the traffic, busy streets, neighbors knocking at our door, malls and specially the house work.

This was our vacation house for 5 days. Two bedrooms, bathroom with shower, kitchen and living room, TV, fridge and a fan.

We spend a lot of time in the pool but the high temperatures prevent us from spending even more time in the pool.

With two active children it is almost impossible for me to rest. When one is quiet the other requires attention and vice versa.

I didn’t read the book I took, I was able to make 4 Sudoku’s puzzles and check two magazines.

On our last full day in the camping we were invited to participate in a Walk along the river through a tough vegetation. We walked for 4 hours, dad had to hold Catherine most of the walk due to the rough ground conditions, Dani hold himself very well and did the walk very happily. During the walk we were able to bath in three river beaches, we even jumped from ropes into the river…it was fantastic.

The walk ended up on a waterfall, in a absolutely beautiful green scenario from a very beautiful river and vegetation. The view was breath taking!

I didn’t take the cell phone to the walk therefore no photos were taken. One of the guides took a camera but I’m still waiting for the photos to be emailed to me.

We ended up the walk with several scratches, feet and legs were the most scratched due to the vegetation.

As soon as we arrived at the camping park from the walk we all went to the pool to a deserved bath!

This was an excellent experience that I hope we can repeat soon. The only negative point…the bell from the local church bell giving the hours and half hours day and night.

Going on vacation…see you all in a few days

Today it will be the last day I will have access to Internet. Tomorrow morning we are leaving for a few days out of here, I’m really looking forward to it.

The Laptop will remain at home and my cell phone provider doesn’t provide Internet service so I won’t be able to check my email or read blogs.

I hope I regain energy during these days so that I can write more posts than I’ve been writing these last weeks.

I’ll see you all next week!!!

Vacation on a Camping Park Bungalow

Big decision. As we have the beach 15 minutes away from here and we don’t have money to go to the south of the country where is warmer and better weather, we had decided to spend our vacation at home.

Camping was not on my plans, I have one very active kid and my daughter is only 4 so camping with a tent was out of question. A friend told me about a few camping parks in the mountains, where we can find cheaper prices because it is away from the coast. I did a little search on the Internet and we decided to rent a Bangalow on a camping park in a mountain, near a river and with a river beach.

Next Saturday we will be staying on a Bungalow for 4 people, with bathroom, kitchen, TV, fridge and also access to a big pool, soccer field, activity field and several possible activities like canoing, fishing, etc.. We will also have all the other facilities that a camping place has like a coffee shop, barbecue, laundry room and much more.

This is the first time we will be “4 on vacation”, this is the first time my daughter will be away from home so I don’t know how she’s going to react.

I hope we can have a quiet and relaxed time. Although I could, I’m not taking the laptop with me, I believe I’m not going to survive without it for 6 days. I’ve already set my vacation dates on Payu2Blog (I write for them on other blogs) because I can’t write any assignments on those days.

My son talked about taking is PlayStation 2 but…no, I said no PS2 are allowed there (I lied…I know).

What I’m taking are: board games, cards, puzzles, coloring books, activity books and magazines. Family activities, quiet and rest are the things I will be looking for.
